Pets, Cars and Bicycles Oh My!

I'm going to start this post with a simple suggestion from a professional photo buddy of mine.  It's pretty obvious and I'm sure any pro would say the same... "If you want to become a better photographer... KEEP SHOOTING!"

Trying to find things to shoot on more of a daily basis can be hard.  So I figured, when in doubt, photograph your pets!  So this post will start with a cat in luggage, a cat with a cone and two dogs in a tent.

Now that the cuteness is out of the way, we move onto cars.  I recently attended two different car events.  The first being an SCCA Autocross at the Silverdome in Pontiac, MI and the second being the 1st ever Euro Hangar Car Show in Holland, MI.  Unfortunately for the AutoX, I still have a few thousand photos to go through and I will have to make a separate blog on that particular day.

Continue... 3... 2... 1... Euro Hangar 2012!
Anyone up for nothing but modified European cars?!  Long story short, there's a car crew out in Holland called "H-Town Euros" who decided it was up to them to put together one of the biggest car shows in the midwest.  Hence Euro Hangar is born.

My girlfriend and I being members of a local VW forum called "M.I.V.E." decided to get together with a handful of other members and caravan to the event.  And for those of you have never driven in a large caravan with other car nuts, I have to say... it's pretty awesome to have a bunch of cars cruising the highway together in the center lane.  Other people definitely notice and seem pretty excited about seeing us pass by.  Here are some rolling shots I took of other MIVE members.

As for the show itself, it was pretty awesome!  Keep in mind this was THEE first show EVER!  That being said, there was a few hick ups here and there with things like registration, voting/judging, etc.  But these H-Town Euro guys are on the forums and message boards and facebook taking suggestions, making notes and already planning for next year.

Blah blah blah, yea yea yea... onto the cars!

Future VW addict maybe?
What a great day full of awesome cars, new friends and plenty of sun.  Can't wait till Euro Hangar 2013!

So naturally I made my post title a little out of order and the pictures can be a pain to get in the right positions.  That being said, let's talk about the day before Euro Hangar.

It's the last Friday of the month and I met up with a couple co-workers to go for a bike ride called "Critical Mass".  Critical Mass is a large group ride on whatever the heck kind of bicycle you've got that goes through Detroit.  I have never done a ride like this before so of course my camera comes along.  The down side is that I've never ridden my bike and taken pictures at the same time.  This isn't an easy task by any means so I wasn't able to get too many pictures, but here are a few I did capture.

There was about 500-600 riders and the group was about 2 miles long.  We even road all the way to, and around, the old Belle Isle race track!  It was pretty awesome, but riding a bike hard through the corners and on the rumble strips just isn't the same as it would be in a race car.

As usual, you can find more photos from these events on my facebook.com/MCampbellPhoto page.  Be sure to "Like" my page and share with your friends!

Later this week I plan on finishing all my AutoX photos and I'll be sure to make a blog about my "day on the track".

Here's a sneak peak...
