Suddenly I found myself torn... Do I bring my bike or my camera?! Long story short, I started getting the camera gear together and called up Bryan Wissman, the head of Tailwind-Racing, who was more than happy to have me shoot the race.
Race day. I make it early to get shots of some last minute registrations and racers gearing up. I finally meet with Bryan, who was still running around with his crew, and he gave me a map and a couple tips on hot spots on the course to check out.
To sum it up from there my day was full of hiking through the woods, eating the dust of flying mountain bikers, sprinting down trail trying to beat racers from one spot to the next, chatting with some racers and about 1,700 photos. Here's a few samples.
I'd like to say thanks to Bryan and the Tailwind-Racing crew for letting me shoot the race. Also to all the racers for not purposely skidding turns and tossing rocks at me and for the few that buzzed by and still had time for a smile. It seemed like a fun race and I had a blast shooting it.
